notes to moderator

Dear moderator,

I was given the task of creating a music magazine which contained a front page contents and double page spread, I have tried to use a variety of media technologies to evaluate my tasks.
My magazine is pop music mag with a target audience of young teenage girls.
The begining of this project started with a prelim task in which i soon used the ideas of and developed to help me in my magazine task.

 Thank you

Question 2

question 1 final

In what ways does your media product use develop challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
In the beginning of my research I discovered that typical codes and conventions of music magazines include all the names of the artists that are going to feature in the magazine, which I have done as a column on the right side of my front cover. They also include an original one worded title like"aze" represents the target audience as teenagers go through "phases" and that includes different interests in varied types of music, so my magazine is for adolescent teens. Its common for music magazines to take words and change the way their spelt for the name.
Magazines such as Q have a head shoulder shot of the artists from their magazine this is a continuous theme through all of their issues. I developed this idea and used a shoulder headshot on my magazine and on my contents page too, this makes it clear to the reader that they are the main focus of the magazine and most of the content is going to be about them.
The magazine "word" contains an image or a band of that magazines genre on the front cover, this helps them grab the attention of their target audience I did the same on my magazine with an image of affront cover of an album with an artist I created which was an indie artist to make my reader more interested.

I used Q's idea of an arched subheading around the model this makes the cover look more slick and is appealing to the viewers eye.

My product challenges the classic layout of the contents page instead of 1 or 2 straight columns going down the page I have set mine out to look like a section of a clock to fit in with artist my main articles about as her album is called "clockwork".

In what ways does your media product use develop challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
I will use blogger to answer this question

-don’t just list codes and conventions

Consider what codes an convention were important to keep but how you were creative in making something original and why

Could show existing rma alongside your one

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
I will use prezi to answer this question
This is not a question on audience

We have done representation so you are looking at how you have portrayed different groups in society consider age gender ethnicity link this to genre and comment on costume language colours stance.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I will use prezi to answer this question

This is clearly looking at institution- think back to the research you did in the industry

Consider rivals you may have-where would your product sit among others

Who would be the audience for your product?
I will use youtube to answer this question
I will talk about my target audience being a young generation of teens.

How did you attract or address our audience?
I will use youtube

You have tons of research on this- how did define/profile and ultimately appeal to this particular group similar to representation but not!!

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I use ipad notes

This is again not a list of what you’ve used but how different technologies have helped you make the best product you can make at every stage

Looking back at your prelim task what have you learnt from the progression of your product?
I will use prezi

Chance to sum everything up.

Megan,
So far you have some basic research but you need to do the following in the next 2 days:
How your research will inform planning
Plan ideas for fonts, layouts, mastheads and colour schemes
Do some test shots
Upload all work and organize your blog

product placement

school magazine

Research + Planning I didn't do any planning for this project I just went straight into it. As for research I looked at magazines available to the public and studied their layout on the front cover and what text they used to grab the attention of their target audience. I studied the magazines that are available to us at school and looked at the colors they used such as a bright reds which stand out against a white background. Rock magazines examples include deep reds blacks and greys, the background are usually a picture white not lot of white or lighter colors. Then I studied the contents page and the feature and colors used on them. The magazines I studied had a continuous theme from he front cover to the contents which makes the magazine flow well such as the headings and color theme of the magazine. only the layout of the page changed to mix it up a bit which makes the magazine more interesting so the reader doesn't get bored. One of the problems I faced was making my magazine a school magazine and appropriate for that genre. The magazines I studied and researched before were all music magazines so I couldn't make many links and similarities between the two type's. I struggled to create my contents page as I didn't know the type of features a school magazine would include as their different to music and public magazines. I struggled to balance appropriate content for a school magazine and more relaxed social content. To fix this problem I should of researched school magazines and analyzed them instead of music magazines. Problems

What I have learned about the technology
To edit our movie we used Final Cut Pro which I had no idea how to use before. We also used garage band to create sounds and music for our film which I also didn't know how to do before. Thanks to this task I now know how to use these programs.

What I have learned about editing

I now know how to use transitions, colour the actual shots, add sound effects, add music. We also
learnt how to add credits top our film which looked professional and effective.

What I will improve next time

Next time I will focus on how to create a more smoother transistion between shots.

how does the darling buds of may portray sound

Darling buds of May sound essay

The country man when addressing the women uses the term “ma” showing he’s been raised in a more rural area with country folk. You can hear birds chirping in the background showing it’s in the country side. The sound of the cobbles on the roads when the towns man is walking shows most of the landscape is all natural. The way the country man says “nice weather isn’t it” and the taxis mans no reply’s highlights how different their ways or communicating are and how uneducated the country man is. The sounds of the turkeys going mad shows how the taxis man is not used to this sort of environment and contrasts how he’s out of his comfort zone.
